Changing Your Password
Overview
Your Qwest.net password is your personal key to accessing your Qwest.net account. Having a secure password assures that you are the only person with access to your account, protecting your data and your identity from misuse.
You can change your password whenever you'd like. If you change your password, be certain to write it down and keep it in a safe place.
There are three steps to changing your password:
- Report the change to the Qwest.net server by using the Account Manager.
- Change your password on your computer.
- If you are using Outlook Express to manage your e-mail, change your password in Outlook Express.
Instructions for each of these steps follow.
Follow the steps below to use the Account Manager to change a password on the Qwest.net server.
- From the Qwest.net home page, select Account Tools.
- Select Account Manager.
- Select the radio button to the left of the account you want to change. (Primary account subscribers can change their own password OR sub-account passwords. Sub-account subscribers are allowed to change only their own sub-account password.)
- Click Change Password.
- Enter your new password using the rules on the Change Password page. Be sure to write down the exact password you enter, paying close attention to uppercase and lowercase letters. Keep your new password in a safe place.
- Click Submit Password Change.
- Your new password will be available within 30 minutes. (Until your password change has taken effect, continue to use your old password.)
- If you changed the password of your primary account, return to this page for further instructions.
Instructions for changing your password on your computer depend on your software:
Caution: Your new password change takes up to 30 minutes to be ready on the Qwest.net server. If you change your password on your computer too soon, the new password will not yet be recognized by the Qwest.net server.
