Changing Your Username

Help Guide

*
Append "@qwest.net" to your Authentication Username
*
Change your Secondary Usernames (for email purposes)

Overview

Your Qwest.net Authentication Username identifies you to the Qwest.net server for authentication purposes and when you request your e-mail messages. Your Authentication Username is the part of your e-mail address that preceeds the "@" symbol. This Authentication Username can never be changed but you can append "@qwest.net" to this Username for authentication purposes. Follow the instructions below to append "@qwest.net" to your Authentication Username or contact technical support for assistance.

Your Qwest.net Secondary Usernames are a subset of your Authentication Username and are used strictly for email purposes. Since these Secondary Usernames are not used for authentication purposes, they can be changed using these instructions below.

Note: All existing users who registered before October 9, 2002 will be required to modify their Authentication Username by appending "@qwest.net". Your Authentication Username should be modified from "user" to "user@qwest.net".

Click on the links below for instructions on the two different types of Username Modifications/Changes:

  • Append "@qwest.net" to your Authentication Username: Modify your Authentication Username by appending "@qwest.net" so that your computer sends the correct Username to the server for authentication purposes ("logging in").
  • Change your Secondary Usernames: Changes to your Secondary Username require a two-step process. No changes to your authentication process are required when you make Secondary Username changes. In other words, if you change your Secondary Username, you will still "login" with the same Authentication Username that you were given when you initially registered.

Append "@qwest.net" to your Authentication Username

Note: All users should follow this step (and only this step) to modify their Authentication Username to "username@qwest.net" before July 31, 2003.
